Description
Last updated 15 September 2026.
Norsk ordbank – Bokmål is a lexical database that reflects the spelling reform which came into force on 1 July 2005 and later adjustments made to the official Bokmål orthography by The Language Council of Norway (Språkrådet).
From this version, last updated 15 September 2026, onwards, Norsk ordbank is distributed as a full-form list. The list contains all possible inflected forms of the lemmas (i.e. the headwords) in accordance with the current orthography. Each line in the file contains one inflected form of a lemma, together with part of speech, morphological features, compound segmentation and source information. Parts of speech and morphological features are coded according to the Universal Dependencies (UD) tagset, see https://universaldependencies.org.
The dataset contains all lemmas with full forms that meet at least one of the following criteria: they have been manually approved, they have Bokmålsordboka (BOB) as their Source (https://ordbokene.no/nob/bm/), they belong to various sources that were included in earlier editions of Norsk ordbank (such as IBM, TILLEGG etc.), or they have been added by Det Norske Akademis ordbok (NAOB) so that https://naob.no/ can display the complete and current Bokmål norm. The source is listed on every line and can be used to filter the material further, for example if one only wants to include words that appear in Bokmålsordboka.
The full-form list also contains forms that are conceivable but in practice rarely or never used, for example plural forms such as "snøer" (“snow” Noun Masc Pl).
Format: the file is a tab-separated text file in UTF-8 with one header line and seven columns.
This version contains 194.418 lemmas and 1.152.284 full forms.
