Description

The Norwegian Female Incontinence Registry (NFIR) was established in 1998 after the introduction of the tension-free vaginal tape (TVT) as there was limited amount of data on outcomes and complications with this new procedure. Preoperative patient-reported data and objective clinical and urodynamic data and the type of incontinence procedure and complications are reported to the Registry. The patients are also evaluated between 6 to 12 months after surgery and again after three years either by a physical follow-up, by telephone or in some cases only by postal form. The patient-reported data and results from objective and urodynamic testing at the follow-ups are reported to the Registry. The same validated short-form urinary incontinence disease-specific questionnaire in Norwegian is used to retrieve subjective data before surgery and at all subsequent follow-ups.
