Sjøområdene innenfor kontinentalsokkelens yttergrense inndeles i blokker med en størrelse på 15 breddeminutter og 20 lengdeminutter, med mindre tilstøtende landområder, grenser mot andre staters kontinentalsokler eller andre forhold tilsier noe annet.
